Interior Built Environment Design Description : Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is located inside the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Alongside the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra are three other art divisions. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has been at the Woodruff Arts Center since 1968. Recordings done at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra have already won 27 Grammy Awards in four categories in their past 32-year history. Two of their Grammy Awards can be located in the bottom main doors of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The Image above is the way the seating chart is arranged. When you first enter the Woodruff Arts Center depending on which way you come from its either going to be all the way in the back of the center (if you come in from the main entrance) or it will be in the front (if you come in from the gift shop entrance). At first it’s really hard to find the Symphony hall, since there are three other divisions inside the same building. Luckily there’s a directory of where to find the orchestra hall.  Once you do see the giant huge letter that say Atlanta Symphony Orchestra you’ll know your in the right spot. Not only that outside of the Woodruff Arts Center walking towards inside, you will find signs that point in the direction of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, as well as the other three art divisions. There are however three different floors in which you can enter the orchestra hall, depending on what types of seats you have. There’s the rear and front balcony, the middle loge, and the main stage where they perform. The main colors inside of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra are the...

Built Environment Description – Aurora Coffee Shop

As I approached 468 Moreland Avenue I saw a very unique set up on the end of a strip of shops. This sign intrigued me before I even knew what it said because of the art on the side of the building as well as the outside seating to the side of this shop. Once I got close enough, I realized that it was my destination: Aurora Coffee Shop.  When I first parked and got out of the car I saw this and decided to take the picture. I walked in and the shop is a long rectangle. There were many students sitting with their laptops, as well as a few older gentlemen discussing work things at the bar-style seating. Seeing the menu was one of the first things that caught my eye. It is written all on a chalk board and hung from the ceiling from chains. The second thing that caught my attention was the walls. They basically used the wall as a canvas. It was very unique and quite smart. As I sat down to observe, the first thing I did was try to connect to WiFi. Now once I pulled up the page to connect, there was a paragraph on the side of the page. This paragraph had the “Aurora Coffee” trademark; below that was the history of the shop. Aurora was founded in 1992 by a couple fugitives. It was purchased by a local record store in 2005. They are independent and very dedicated to their love of coffee. The shop itself seems like if there were a lot of people in it, it would...

Interior Design: Digital Record #4

Hanging up outside of the halls at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra are pictures of past performances held there. The image above is one of those performances from a while back. Instead of having a picture of the layout of the place, it’s a photo of all the seats being taken up and everyone engaged in whats happening. A women is even shown in white at the balcony so engaged from the performance,  it makes you wonder who she is and whether the performance was so interesting it made her get up from her seat or if she’s apart of the...

Interior Design: Digital Record #3

At the Atlanta Symphony orchestra right outside of their doors you can find a photo stand. It’s interesting to see how something as classical as an orchestra has a place that is in touch to the new ways of society. The photo stand is a cut out of an instant photo border. On the bottom of the border you see hashtags and Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook icons. 10 years ago you wouldn’t expect to find yourself looking at this at all. This is modernization of something as classy as an orchestra to merge together with today’s...
