B.E.A Draft 1-The GSU Library

Disclaimer: (This first draft goes over main points and gives information. It is not intended to be ascetically appealing with pictures or links yet nor is it anywhere near fully done) Georgia State University’s Library seems like an environment that encourages learning, happiness, and productive activity. However its design has promoted crime. The University library advertises a “wealth of resources” and suggests people to “take advantage of the services” they offer. These very sentences sound like a treasure for the taking to criminals and this is only beginning. While exploring the library in its entirety, one can see that it down to its very structure and design, makes it a hotspot for criminal activity and how it lead to the recent crime events that occurred there.. Before even entering the library itself to commit a crime, one is able to grasp its entire layout and services through the GSU Library website. In this website a full map is provided along with each floor layout and directions to the library itself from numerous locations.  This gives numerous advantages to a person if they want to commit a crime, as they are provided intel every way. The two entrances and exits consist of one connected through classroom south and from the plaza. Both of these places (plaza and classroom south) have easy street access where one can easily enter from the outside in. Located at these entrances/exits there are card swipes where one swipes their card in the receiver to grant access. It does not require the student’s picture to be shown nor is any of the student’s information received at...

Atlanta Culture in one Website: The Magic City Strip Club

Front facing image of Magic City “To call it a mere strip club means you don’t get it. It’s more like hip-hop’s ultimate proving ground—a legendary hive of hustlers and dreamers. Magic City is a place where fortunes rain from the rafters, where women with impossible bodies call the shots, and where a DJ who spins your track can make you a star.” (Devin Freidman) Magic City Website Screenshot My digital built environment description website was on Magic City, one of Atlanta’s premier strip clubs. I started on the homepage of the website, which contains an interactive moving background of Magic City strippers dancing, it contains all the lights, colors, and people in the club which makes me feel as if I am in the club itself. It brings up a sense of excitement and euphoria to me, pulling me from a computer screen into the world of Magic City. The club’s reputation is so big, that a rapper by the name of Future made a song called “Magic” talking about the club and the video was shot inside Magic City. People taking pictures in the club On the homepage between the words “Magic” and “City” there is a white silhouette of what appears to be a woman, accentuating on the chest and buttocks curves area. This possibly assumes that the girls there have amazing bodies, which could persuade someone to go to the club. The whole background shows numerous clips of the club, all with fast chop transitions which also is another possible method of inciting euphoria and excitement. There is a lack of anything but strippers in the series of clips, possibly...
